Using Marketing Source Codes With WordPress
Marketing source code support is available with engageRE WordPress websites. This is used to identify activity (both traffic and leads) from specific referral sources where you may be advertising or just about anywhere you can place an inbound link to your WordPress website (including emails and text messages).
The convention is to append the text ?source=[some name] to the URL you want to place externally. For example:
- http://www.mywebsite.com/ST/Town?source=zillow
- http://www.mywebsite.com/town-st-homes-for-sale/?source=localnewspaper
The name you use is up to you - it can be anything, however it should only be alphabetic characters and numbers - no symbols or spaces.
With that convention in use, you can use Google Analytics to access reports on traffic volume attributable to that source. You can also access the marketing source code reports in the engageRE agent portal (LeadStreet) to report on leads against that source code.
Note: This convention is different (and replaces) the native marketing source code featured supported by the Reliance platform. That convention will not work with WordPress.

Choosing Good Names For Saved Searches

A few pointers for naming your searches:
- Your search name should contain the common name of the location (city, town, county, school district, etc) and the state code, as well as a domain phrase like “real estate” or “homes for sale.” If you are creating a feature search, it should also contain a descriptor of that feature.

- Basic school district search: Blue Valley School District KS Real Estate

- Your search name should be spelled correctly, and should use title casing. State codes should be abbreviated.
- Poor search name: rochetser new york commercial properties
- Good search name: Rochester NY Commercial Properties for Sale

Phishing FAQ
What is phishing?
Phishing is the activity of defrauding an online account holder of personal information by posing as a legitimate company. A phishing scam is delivered by means of an email that appears to be from a legitimate source such as your bank, credit card company, or in our case, RE/MAX or engageRE. The phishing email will encourage you to click on a link in the email in an attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords, and credit card details by disguising as a trustworthy source.
How can I recognize a phishing email?
The subject of the email will generally be worded to create concern or a sense of urgency, and the email will contain a link to what appears to be a legitimate website that you often access. The text of the email might ask recipients to validate their email addresses and/or verify their MainStreet password. NOTE: neither engageRE nor RE/MAX will ever send you an email to request or validate your password!
Another form of phishing scam comes as an email from a familiar source, requesting to share a Google Doc with you. The message contains a link that adds applications to your Google account which allow unwanted access to the account.
I’m fairly sure I’ve been compromised. What should I do now?
If you have clicked on any links in a scam or phishing email, that may have enabled the scammer to either install malware or crack your email password. You might have also provided your User Name and Password inadvertently. Please run PC protection software on your computer, change your MainStreet password, and change your email password, in that order. Make sure you use a new, original password.
You may also want to take the following steps:
- Run an anti-virus software such as Norton.
- Change all passwords that might have been used recently. Use a new, original password
- Email your contact list and inform them that you did not send any emails with links. Inform them that if they have already done so, they will need to take the above steps as well.
- If you have are concerned that you may have fallen prey to a Google Doc scam, visit this Google resource to repair your account.

With the most recent change, email updates will be turned on automatically for new customer saved favorites. Once a customer saves a favorite on their Dashboard, this setting will automatically be enabled. Your customer will then receive an email update every time there is a change in the listing such as a price update or a listing status change. This is a new consumer touch-point that will keep your brand in front of your clients and let them know that you are actively engaged and working on their behalf!
Clients can easily opt-out of these email updates by unchecking a new checkbox on the Client Dashboard on the My Favorite Properties page. NOTE: this will only affect new saved favorites, not those that already exist.
Simpler Registration
We've made it much easier for a client to register on your website! When a client is prompted to register on your website, they will be presented with a pop-up window with streamlined choices. This should encourage registration and lead conversion.
Enhanced Client Status Selections
You will also notice some changes on a contact's profile page. There are now additional choices under the Client Status section such as New, Qualified Prospect, Appointment, Offer, and Pending. Note: any contact that had a client status of Under Contract, was migrated to Pending. Also on the Contact Profile section, the Real Estate Needs Profile was replaced with a new field called Contact Type. You can now identify your contact as a Buyer, Seller, or even an Agent.
Web Client Icons - Back by Popular Demand
The icons to signify web clients and non-web clients have been added back! The first column of your Contact List will contain either a yellow globe to signify a web client or a blue Rolodex card to signify a non-web client. You will also notice a new column labeled Status that shows the new client status that you set within each client's profile.
